![]() ![]() Stranger things have happened. Our Dumb Question this week comes from John Ormsby, aka NasaNut in the chat room. They could keep the name, backstory, etc., but when they transition into the Starfinder setting, they gain automatic competency in their Starfinder-analogue classes. Each class has different specialisations that allow them to fill different niches surrounding the class's core concept, so there's a lot of customisation to be found. That said, once the book is out you should see if the Starfinder classes can make good approximations of your players' characters. I imagine it will be quite broad, as providing a class-by-class conversion guide for the 40+ (or even core classes) would be too page-consuming, but it should allow you to keep the crucial elements on your characters in the Starfinder setting. You can still play a wizard (or whatever) in Starfinder, but it will be the converted wizard so some abilities will change their functionality, spell levels will change, all that. I am pretty sure that there is a chapter in the CRB dedicated to converting from Pathfinder, so you can port your Pathfinder characters into the Starfinder ruleset with not much hassle (both for races and classes). I'm really looking forward to it, and I'm planning on doing a conversion to Mass Effect fairly early on. It sounds really gamey, but I'm curious to see how it plays out, especially with Pathfinder's infamous rocket-tag combat, since the super moves take three rounds to charge up. The class that really looked interesting to me was the Solarion, a class centered around building up combo-point like charges, during combat, gaining passive bonuses from having them, or unleashing them to power super moves. One of the sample abilities listed on Paizo's site showed an Operative power normally, you couldn't take it until 11th or higher, but if you chose the Infiltrator specialization, it was an option at 5th, which struck me as a neat balance, and sounds less like archetypes locking you out of certain options, but instead making it easier to follow the path you want. Unfortunately, I didn't get a detailed look at the other sheets, so I can't comment on them, but from the previews they went over, it looks pretty easy. As a caster, I don't think I had an archetype, but I had a lot of clericy options chosen, like the equivalent of Channel Positive, and Cure Light prepared. I was playing the Mystic, who had the Priest package, which let me perform out-of-combat healing at no cost, but only up to a max of about half their health. Their archetype was the Infiltrator, which granted a significant bonus to Stealth, especially while using the new version of Sneak Attack (which now requires a skill check to trigger, instead of flanking/flat-footed). I haven't seen a whole lot of details on it, yet, just from the previews and the short playtest I participated in, so we didn't get to build our characters, but I got a chance to deconstruct and look at them.įor example, my friend's Operative had the Ace Pilot package (which didn't really apply during the playtest), that granted some bonuses while flying the ship, and specific case bonuses to skills. /r/3d6 - For character creation, advice and sharing (system agnostic)./r/Battlemaps - For your VTT battlemap requirements./r/Tabletop - For your general tabletop gaming shenanigans./r/lfg - Looking For Group, find other players, etc./r/RPG - For general, non-Pathfinder related RPG discussion./r/Starfinder_rpg - For dedicated discussion of Paizo's Science Fantasy system and setting./r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker - To discuss the Owlcat-made computer RPGs./r/Pathfinder2e - For dedicated Second Edition discussion./r/Pathfinder - For Pathfinder Society Organization/Discussion.Other subreddits you might be interested in: Fillable character sheets and intelligent character builders. ![]() Some of these tools and resources include the following: We have a Wiki page that includes links for various useful tools and resources, most of which have been provided by the members of this community.
